A bit of a climb

We looked at the sky, and at 18F said in unison “this feels warm”. Yes, out loud and it didn’t even phase us. Getting up to head outside and get our workout in has made it being in colder temps and make statements like that common between us RuFF regulars.

I mean how often do you really make it outside in below freezing weather while wearing one or two layers to get on icy covered ground for a workout? Turn around the next day and do it again. It is challenging to begin a process as physically demanding as getting up that early (0400) for the general population.

Once you have step one covered then getting yourself outside with us is Huge! You’ll find yourself in the company of others that refuse to do regular things and be okay with it. You will be challenged to do things that inside the gym are uncomfortable.

Today one of the consistent hints was a 200m run between exercises on an icy hill. Like run up there hill, lunges (2 laps) up the hill, burpees, goblet squats, push ups, bear crawl up the hill.

Oh, I also forgot to mention that we were not able to take off our rucksacks for the entire time we rucked to the park, worked out, and rucked back to our starting point CF Spero.

Today the rucks needed to be on the heavier side than usual which meant that ladies had to put extra weight inside them while the guys put extra-extra weight to get this done.

A little confession- my butt cheeks almost cramped while doing the lunges up the hill! Those are tougher than they look. Especially with the extra weight added.

One way or another

One way or another, I’m gonna get ya! Remember that song? Cool song, and sometimes I hear songs pop into my head while I’m working out and just sucking wind. I love it when a random song pops into my head while suffering a little bit and getting work done with others that help me while I’m suffering, or struggling with a movement.

Who or what do you hear in your minds inner realms when the suck increases? I’m so eclectic it’s mi d boggling! Hahahahaha!

Today we’re at the Hill!

Rucks on!

  • Ruck run to benches (600m)
    • 20 x burpees

Up the hill with the ruck…

Today is special for a couple of reasons. One, it’s Fall! I love the fall season and changing of the colors, and watching so many things in nature begin to work or finish working on their little homes, and preparing for winter.

Secondly it’s my 53 go around here on this blue planet! Yup! Gonna enjoy it at the Hill working on getting faster with the loaded ruck, and really sharing quality time one suffering with me.

Third is always and mostly giving Thanks to God for this grand opportunity to share what I do with all of you.

  • Dew? You mean water!

After yesterday’s LaborDay WOD we are sore going into this mornings event. Took a little longer to warm up, and with more groans, grunts, and laughing than usual.

Today seems a bit off on the exercises, but using the tools at hand this WOD got interesting pretty fast! Breathing heavy right from the start I noticed the dew on the grass wasn’t just dew. It was drenching water masquerading as dew.

If you can picture it glossy, reflective blades of grass in a humid morning. As you begin to walk in it the water begins to splash all over you!

We had yet to start and I was soaked from my knees down! So, what did we have to do as the first exercise? Freaking Burpees! Now my dry upper body is totally drenched not so much by sweat but by the water in the grass. Drenched! And not even five reps in! 😂

Oh, boy! The looks Selene gave me when she read out loud the first exercise! I was almost in tears. She beat me to 50 like nothing. As if I was standing still. To be honest I did stand still trying to keep the blackness from encroaching my being. Did I mention yesterday’s workout?

So, we ran a little and I tried my best not to laugh out loud otherwise I’d not be writing right now. Have you ever not hit your head with a sandbag(sb) while performing the shoulder to shoulder exercise? Who doesn’t look funny doing it? I wear my hat on purpose for things like that, but I just checked it and I may have gotten knocked around a few times by the sb. But, watching her do it made it a little more entertaining. Sshhhh, don’t tell her I wrote that. Hahahahahahaha!

Have any of you performed inch worms on a very wet natural grass field for 50m after getting your body smacked around a few times? Try it! Lots of fun! That’s how we finished our workout today!

I am very honored, and Blessed to have such a great workout partner as my fiancé! She has a no slack attitude with a bit of a competitive drive (she will deny it).
